HISTORY
Moonwalk National High School (formerly known as Dr. Arcadio Santos National High School – Moonwalk Annex) is a public secondary school in the Division of Parañaque City. It was conceived on July 21, 2003 under the administration of Honorable Joey Marquez who offered the site at Daang Batang Street, San Agustin Village, Moonwalk, Paranaque City under CTC No. 12809 and 12820 with 2,000 square meters lot area.
The change in administration under the leadership of Honorable Mayor Florencio M. Bernabe realized the dream and pursued the initial phase of the construction of the school in 2004. In 2005, the building was partially completed and opened with 24 classrooms catering to 1,735 students under the supervision of Dr. Gregorio T. Capiral together with four (4) National Teachers, twenty-four (24) Local School Board (LSB) teachers and five (5) non-teaching staff to handle the operation. These people worked together to achieve the Mission, Vision and Thrust of the School. From then on, an increase of enrollment was projected every year considering that there are three (3) elementary school feeders situated near the school namely San Agustin Elementary School, Col. E. de Leon Elementary School, and F. Serrano Elementary School.
On June 5, 2007, through the amendment of City Ordinance No. 07-04, Dr. Arcadio Santos National High School – Moonwalk Annex was renamed MOONWALK NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL, and eventually declared as a fully independent City Public School.
From 2008 to 2011, Ms. Wilma T. Loria became the next School Head. On March 31, 2010, Hon. Roilo S. Golez, Congressman of District II, sponsored the independence of the school and was approved by virtue of Republic Act No. 10065. It is now known as MOONWALK NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL.
When Ms. Wilma Loria was assigned as the Officer-in-charge in Don Galo National High School, Dr. Rosendo C. Abulog took over as the principal for the school year 2011- 2012.
Dr. Concepcion C. Bernaldez became the School Principal for the school year 2012-2013.
The next school year, Dr. Gerry C. Catchillar took over. He established the Moonwalk National High School – San Agustin Extension in November 2014. It initially housed six sections of the school Grade 9 students. And eventually offered complete junior high school. He also initiated the senior high school program offering during its full implementation in 2016. Initially, MwNHS offered General Academic Strand (GAS) only. In the next school year, he managed to add more program offerings namely Accountancy, Business Management (ABM), Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), and Home Economics.
In July 2019, Dr. Leonisa D. Romano was assigned to Moonwalk National High School. She initiated the installation of smart TV in each classroom. The adoption of this technology in the classrooms made the learning experience interactive, engaging, and enhanced. In her second year at Moonwalk, the senior high school population drastically grew.
In the school year 2019-2020, the Moonwalk National High School- San Agustin Extension relinquished its classrooms to San Agustin Elementary School to accommodate its continuously growing population. Therefore, all its high school students and teachers returned to Moonwalk National High School, then Main Campus.
It continues to take actions and approaches to bridge the gaps and alleviate the profound effect of the pandemic on education. It will continue to rise above the ordinary by providing learning opportunities which can transform lives and communities.
